The Jubilee is a holy year. It is a time to draw closer to God in Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit, to show mercy to others, and to re-establish a proper relationship with all of creation. The Jubilee fosters a spirit of penance, or turning to God in faith and away from sin. The Jubilee Year involves the forgiveness of debts. By participating in the Holy Year, one is granted a plenary indulgence. Find out what a plenary indulgence is HERE.
Now the time has come for a new Jubilee, when once more the Holy Door will be flung open to invite everyone to an intense experience of the love of God that awakens in hearts the sure hope of salvation in Christ. – Pope Francis
We participate in the Jubilee by:
- Going on a pilgrimage to a Jubilee Church
- Celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation
- Praying
- Celebrating the Eucharist
- Professing faith with the Creed
- Experiencing Plenary Indulgences
- Performing the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy
- Participating in Evenings of Recollection, Prayer Times, and Catechesis
To facilitate the local celebration of the Jubilee, Cardinal Gregory issued a decree on December 12, 2024, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, establishing nine parishes and one Catholic Student Center as Jubilee Churches throughout the archdiocese.
