Simple Lenten Meals

We serve Simple Lenten Meals in the North Conference Room on the Friday evenings of Lent, following the 6pm Stations of the Cross. Join us for the sustenance of food and fellowship!  Each Friday we collect donations to benefit a different charitable organization. On Friday, March 25, the beneficiary will be Hogar San Francisco de Asis (Home of Saint Francis of Assisi), in Chaclacayo, Peru, the destination of St. Matthew's 2009 volunteer mission trip.  Mission volunteers Karin Quiroga and Olivia Crosby will be the speakers. Consider spending your early Friday evening with St. Matthew's family and friends--come for the 5:30pm Mass, 6pm Stations of the Cross and end with a shared meal and this great opportunity of almsgiving to Hogar San Francisco de Asis.

Hogar San Francisco de Asis is a Center for destitute and sick children.  The Center is home to about 62 such children, suffering from poverty-related diseases such as malnutrition and tuberculosis, and often challenged by (congenital) malformation, chronic illness, cancer, and handicaps; and physical and emotional mistreatment.  The Center, founded and supervised by pediatrician Dr. Anthony Lazzara, provides free medical treatment and food from a caring staff.  Let's continue St. Matthew's mission of helping the Home accomplish its outstanding work.

Following the Simple Lenten Meal we will honor Archbishop Oscar Romero (of San Salvador) by showing a film on his life.
