Volunteers are needed to serve at the Capital Area Food Bank. This activity typically involves packing and/or sorting donated food. It also can include packing for CAFB programs, and assisting with various other tasks at the food bank. The work typically involves standing up for up to three hours and lifting up to 35 pounds.
The mission of the Capital Area Food Bank is to feed those who suffer from hunger in the Washington metro area by acquiring food and distributing it through its network of partner agencies; and educating, empowering and enlightening the community about the issues of hunger and nutrition. Their facilities are in Brookland (4900 Puerto Rico Avenue, NE).
