St. Matthew’s is joining Good Faith Communities Coalition in a letter and email campaign to the Mayor and Council Members on the need for a long-term commitment to the effort of ending poverty. Read on to find out how to participate this weekend. The District has lost half of its low-cost housing units in the past 10 years. The Mayor has promised a one-time $100 million investment to address the deficit. Unfortunately, this is not enough to bring relief to the families and 500 children at the DC General shelter or to the many homeless DC residents.
St. Matthew’s is joining Good Faith Communities Coalition, an alliance of faith communities in the District advocating with and for the poor, in a letter and email campaign to the Mayor and Council Members, urging them of the need for a long-term commitment to the effort of ending poverty. Letters will be available for signing during Mass this weekend, March 16-17. You may also choose to sign an electronic letter through the Good Faith website: www.goodfaithdc.org.
