"The Lord is faithful"
This coming Sunday we hear St. Paul write to the Thessalonians that "the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one." (2 Thes. 2:1) You are invited to join us on Wednesday, November 6 to share how this and the rest of the readings from this coming Sunday strengthen and guard us while we attempt to live our lives as children of God.
BYO Buffet Night
Since this will be the first BOW meeting of the month, it will be BYO Buffet night. That means everyone is welcome to bring food to share with the group (plates, cups, flatware, and soda covered). Since it will be BYO Buffet night the meeting will start a half-hour earlier, at 6:30pm, so that we have time to enjoy the food and each other's company before the discussion begins at 7pm. We will meet in the West Conference (accessible from St. Matthews Court NW on the west side of the Cathedral).
Icebreaker
This week's ice breaker will be "If you were a walking tour guide, what would you hold up in the air so your tour could follow you?"
The readings for The Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time are:
1st Reading: 2 Mc 7:1-2, 9-14
Responsorial Psalm: Ps 17:1, 5-6, 8, 15
2nd Reading: 2 Thes 2:16-3:5
Gospel Reading: Lk 20:27-38
Breaking Open the Word
Breaking Open The Word is an informal discussion on the readings for the upcoming Sunday. No expertise is needed. BOW meets in the West Conference Room accessible from St. Matthew's Court on the west side of the Cathedral. The discussion begins at 7pm and runs for about an hour, finishing at 8pm. The first BOW of every month is BYO Buffet night where everyone attending is welcome, but not required, to bring some food to share. We begin the meeting at 6:30pm on BYO Buffet nights so there is time to eat before the Bible discussion begins at 7pm.
