Breaking Open the Word

Jesus Christ, Our Hope

This Sunday we hear St. Peter write "Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope" (1 Pt. 3:15). Why not get together on Wednesday, May 21, to explore how this and the other Sunday readings move us to consider, and share with others, the reasons for our own hope in Christ.

We will meet at 7pm in West Conference Room (accessible from St. Matthew's Court on the west side of the Cathedral).

This week's ice breaker:
"What was the last thing you used a wheel-barrow for?"

The readings for the Sixth Sunday of Easter are:
1st Reading: Acts 8:5-8, 14-17
Responsorial Psalm: Ps. 66:1-3, 4-5, 6-7, 16, 20
2nd Reading: 1 Pt. 3:15-18
Gospel Reading: Jn. 14:15-21

NOTE: This will be the last meeting for a few weeks.
BOW will not meet on May 28 or June 4,
but will resume on June 11 with BYO Buffet Night (see below)
and a discussion of the Pentecost readings
from the Sunday before

Breaking Open the Word

Breaking Open The Word is an informal discussion on the readings for the upcoming Sunday. No expertise is needed. BOW meets in the West Conference Room accessible from St. Matthew's Court on the west side of the Cathedral. The discussion begins at 7pm and runs for about an hour, finishing at 8pm.

The first BOW of every month is BYO Buffet night where everyone attending is welcome, but not required, to bring some food to share. We begin the meeting at 6:30pm on BYO Buffet nights so there is time to eat before the Bible discussion begins at 7pm.
