Advent Day of Recollection

Advent prepares us for Christmas, the celebration of the Christ Child coming to us in Bethlehem, and calls us to direct our hearts and minds to await Christ’s coming again at the end of time. Therefore, Advent is a season of excitement, expectation, joy, and wonder.

Join us the morning of Saturday, December 4, for our annual Advent Day of Recollection. Dominican Father Michael McCormack will lead us in prayer and reflection on the season of Advent through the lens of Dominican spirituality. The day will include presentations by Fr. McCormack, time for private reflection, opportunities to mingle, and Mass to close our time together.

Father McCormack is a priest of the Order of Friars Preachers, commonly known as the Dominicans. A native of Milford, MA, he entered the Dominicans in 1981 and was ordained in 1987. He is currently a member of the community of the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, DC. The House has as its primary responsibility the spiritual, pastoral, and academic formation of Dominican student brothers preparing for the priesthood. Father McCormack has also ministered at St. Maryʹs Church, New Haven, CT; St. Thomas Aquinas University Parish for the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA, as Chaplain and Campus Minister at Molloy College in Rockville Centre, NY, and as Director of Catholic Campus Ministry at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. In addition, he has served as a producer for Catholic Telecommunications Network of America (CTNA) of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in Washington, and as the Director of Communications and Media Relations for the Archdiocese for the Military Services, Washington. Prepare for the coming of Christ in our lives and in our world by joining us for our annual Advent Day of Recollection!
