Cardinal Gregory will celebrate a Youth Mass of Celebration and Thanksgiving at the Cathedral on Friday, January 19, 2024.
This is a special event for the youth of The Archdiocese of Washington to worship together in celebration and thanksgiving for life. Click here for more information on the ADW website.
Parishioners also are invited to join us for music, witness talks, a conversation with Cardinal Gregory, and most importantly, our Liturgy, where we come together as a Church to pray, praise, and celebrate! This event is open to all.
Seating
Seating for the Mass and pre-Mass events is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to arrive early!

For our regular worshippers and visitors, please see the following schedule notes:
- The 7:30am Mass is cancelled;
- Confessions and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, normally available in the Cathedral from 11am to Noon, are cancelled; and
- The 12:10pm and 5:30pm Masses will be celebrated.

Plenary Indulgence for 2024 March for Life Events
The Holy See has granted a plenary indulgence surrounding this year’s March for Life events. This year’s plenary indulgence provides for those pilgrims who will attend events in person and for those pilgrims who will attend events virtually. Pilgrims who participate in person, or virtually due to age, sickness or other grave reasons that prevent them from leaving their homes, but who join via TV, radio or social media in the National Prayer Vigil for Life at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on Thursday, January 18, 2024 will obtain a plenary indulgence. The same conditions apply for pilgrims, who will attend in person or virtually the Mass of Celebration and Thanksgiving for Life, which will be celebrated on Friday, January 19, 2024 here at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle. The same conditions apply for pilgrims, who will attend in person or virtually Masses held in the Archdiocese of Washington on January 18 - 19, 2024 in conjunction with the March for Life.
