The Cathedral Book Club meets on Thursday, December 14, 2023 in the West Conference Room, 7 - 8pm, to discuss The Vatican Code: American Diplomacy in the Time of Francis, by Ambassador Kenneth Hackett.

Fr. Jack Hurley notes that this is a worthwhile study of important areas that may be somewhat familiar to us, expanded in informative  and concise manner by our Ambassador to the Holy See from 2013 to 2017. "Hackett had been head of the Catholic Relief Service for the previous two decades and was thus no political appointee with little appreciation of what his assignment was about.  Thus, the Vatican Secretary of State,  Archbishop Paul R. Gallagher, has noted: 'He undertook his mission in the same spirit of service that has animated him throughout a long career of engagement with Catholic institutions.  Ken's witness is to be welcomed.'"
