Location

The Cathedral is located at 1725 Rhode Island Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. just off the intersection of Connecticut Avenue, Rhode Island Avenue, and M Street Northwest. It is near the Farragut North and Dupont Circle Metrorail stations and about four blocks from the White House.

Parking

The Cathedral does not have a parking lot. Limited street parking is available and several parking garages are located next to and across the street from the Cathedral.

Elevator Entrance

For access, use the driveway to the Penn Parking garage located next to the Cathedral. At the bottom of the driveway is the door to the Conference Center. Use the buzzer and the door then will be unlocked. To your right as you enter is an elevator to the Cathedral level. As you exit the elevator, the door ahead of you leads to the Cathedral.

Provisions for the Hearing Impaired

We employ sign language interpreters at the 5:30pm Sunday Mass and at special liturgies as announced. 

Public Transportation/Metro

The nearest Metrorail stations are Farragut North (L Street exit) and Dupont Circle, both on the Red Line. Several Metro bus routes stop at Connecticut Avenue and M Street to the west of the Cathedral and at 16th and M to the east of the Cathedral. Driving Directions

From the northeast

Take I-95 to I-495 west (the Capital Beltway). Take exit #33, route 185 south (Connecticut Ave.) Follow Connecticut Avenue into the downtown area and take the underpass beneath Dupont Circle. Take a left at the 3rd light once you leave the underpass onto DeSales Street, NW. Go one block and take a left onto 17th Street NW. Take the next left onto Rhode Island Avenue NW. The Cathedral is near the end of the block on your right.

From the northwest

From the south

Take I-95 north to I-395 north. As you approach Washington, take the left exit for Route 1 north towards Washington (14th Street). Follow 14th Street into downtown and take a left onto K Street, NW. Take a right onto Connecticut Avenue NW. At the 3rd light, take a soft right onto Rhode Island Avenue, NW. The Cathedral is on your left.

From the west

Take I-66 east into Washington. Stay straight and you will be on Constitution Avenue NW. Take a left onto 17th Street, NW. Follow it through several lights and take a left onto Rhode Island Avenue, NW. The Cathedral is near the end of the block on your right.

From the east

Take US-50 into downtown where it will become New York Avenue. Continue past 7th Street, NW and the Washington Convention Center on your right side and bear right onto Massachusetts Avenue, NW. Follow Massachusetts through the underpass to Scott Circle. Going left around the circle, take the 4th right off of Scott Circle onto Rhode Island Avenue, NW. The Cathedral is in the second block down on your right.
